This is going to sound incredibly cheesy, but I feel like Trader Joe's has given me back my food freedom! The two grocery stores in our neighborhood carry completely different things and so have no competition therefore prices are very high. So we went to Target and Aldi for awhile, but they're in a very inconvenient location and if we can't carry everything then we have to pay $12 for a cab which almost defeats the purpose of going there. This week I was finally able to visit the TJ's on our subway line, and though it takes a bit longer to get there than Aldi, it's more convenient, many of the prices are the same, and there are organic choices. I completely get the hype now, guys. Their organic food is often the same price or cheaper than Kroger/Dillon's normal food. Even the wine is cheap. In a world where it seems like every week we get slammed with yet another very expensive surprise, things like this are SUCH a blessing.

Ok, end of Trader Joe's fangirling. Ahem.

Two job interviews this week. Nothing exciting, nothing that will assist me with finding a career, but they do pay unlike some internships I know! One would be to work retail at my favorite bakery, Orwasher's, and the other would be to tutor French children after school for a couple of hours. If I could do both of those things, Daniel and I would be in dog-adopting shape, financially speaking! Right now, I'm in love with this dog. I'm not sure if it would be wise to adopt, though, because eventually I hope to find a full-time job, and unless it's teaching it will require me to be gone at least nine hours a day. But perhaps if we're in that position, we could afford a daily dog-walker? What do middle-income dog-owners in NYC do about this stuff?

I think the solution is for me to be a stay-at-home dog mom.
