After a looooong journey. . .
I'm here! I'm in College Station with Daniel! I'm exhausted because my travels began at 6:00 this morning, but I'm so, so, SO happy. It's so wonderful to be with him. Well, actually, he's taking a test right now, as are two of his other roommates, so his roommate, JJ, and I are hanging out while I make dinner for everyone.
Cooking dinner for guys in a guys' apartment is. . . tricky. They do not have the normal kitchen ingredients and utensils that I consider to be staples-- vegetable peelers and large pots, for example. The chicken was also completely frozen solid and so I'm doing my best to thaw it in a sanitary manner. That's not easy to do, but the way their faces fell when I told them that the chicken was too frozen to be eaten that night was devastating, and so I'm making do! I feel rather like Snow White when she cooks for the dwarfs for the first time, or like the kids in A Series of Unfortunate Events when they have to make dinner for Count Olaf out of basically nothing. At least the kitchen is mostly clean. Daniel is naturally a very tidy person, but I cannot say the same for the rest of the guys.
They're very endearing, though, and I think we're getting along very well. I can't wait to meet the rest of Daniel's friends.
