TM 249: Talk about Politics
What's that phrase from the Melville story? I would prefer not to.
That's not to say I've never had anything to say about the American political process, or that I never will. People have certainly chosen to infer things about my political leanings based on the company I keep. And with the jobs I've had, and the friends I've had, it's easy to argue that everything I say or do is political.
But am I in a position to be endorsing a particular candidate at a time like this? My job requires me to serve and protect all the residents of California, without regard for their affiliation. I don't think that people in that sort of calling ought to muddy the waters.
You can imply or infer anything you like from my actions (or inactions) in a particular matter. But who I'm going to vote for is really not any of anyone else's business.
