After someone found the first golden chicken, things started getting hectic. People started going crazy for that chicken, and would even resolve to standing outside a convenience store and ask every costumer who had just bought one of the S.S. puddings if they had found it. If they would get a no, they would still persisted and offered a great amount of money. All of this that was happening, not just in Masaki's town, but all of over the world, disgusted him.  He was sure he would never resolve to such acts, even if he were desperate, after all, that's how he was brought up since childhood by his relatives. He passed by a convenience store on his way to work, there they were; those people who became more and more desperate for that chicken, for they thought that by obtaining it they would gain wealth and fame. He sighed and turned away, not wanting to see how the world was turning to right before his eyes.

As he kept walking and getting closer to the cafe where he worked, he was now all smiles, for people knew him around the neighborhood and greeted him with a smile, and he, not being rude, returned a smile as bright as those which he just received. Being as naive as always, his whole purpose now was earning as much as tips he could get, flirting a little with girls who showed interest or acting like a sweet grandson for those older persons, so that he'd get more money to spent on even more puddings. As he kept receiving more and more tips, he couldn't help but grin every time he counted how much he had already obtained, thinking about how every dollar he had in his hands would turn into puddings.

A week passed, and if he was honest with himself, he could say he was already getting a little tired of having puddings for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, yet his determination was much more. Although he was always eating pudding now, he wouldn't eat as much as 5 cups of pudding. Subtracting the bills of his apartment, eating out to eat something rare, new clothes and sending some money to his family, he would only get a small amount of money to waste on puddings.

If I had more money... He thought during his break during work. He ruffled his hair with elbows in his knees, trying to think of a solution. Just as his brain started hurting from all that thinking, his boss came into the room, threw a newspaper over the nearby table near Masaki. Taking that as a sign for him to read it, he grabbed the newspaper which read, "Second Golden Chicken Found by Matsumoto Jun," and below, in a small caption, it read, "Who will be the lucky winner of the third and last golden chicken?" There was also a picture attached to it, it was yet another male despite being named 'Jun.' In the photo of the second golden chicken finder, he had thick eyebrows -the first thing he noticed, honestly,- for some reason or another, he looked stiff, he probably was nervous, thought Masaki. Above all, he was handsome too. He couldn't help but feel jealous, so far those two winners, had been handsome, he wondered if he also stood a chance, considering his looks.

His boss then brought him back to earth, leaving all those thoughts behind when he asked in a western accent, "You want that chicken, right?" Deep inside, Masaki wanted to laugh, even after all that time he worked there, he just couldn't get used to that accent, yet now he controlled his urge to laugh and simply nodded in response.

"Then..." His boss walked towards his bag and got something, while Masaki perked up with curiosity, wondering what it would be. "Here, take this," his boss stretched one hand towards Masaki with twenty dollars in it.

Having never received much help from others, he felt touched, and asked, "Are you sure? Weren't you thinking of closing the cafe before?" In reality, he wanted to take those twenty dollars and run to the closest store available, but, from his boss!?

"Of course, I know you want that chicken the most, you deserve this, hurry and take it," he tried to convince Masaki to take the money, still with his weird accent, spoiling the mood. Masaki took the money slowly and said his thanks. In response to that, his boss ordered him, "Go buy them right now so that we can open them together and don't hesitate too much, just get what you think is the best."

A bright and wide smile quickly formed in Masaki's face. He said 'thank you' again and gave his boss a tight hug, truly feeling gratitude towards him and with that, he ran towards the closest convenience store. From behind, his boss stared at Masaki run with a gentle and soft smile on his face and thought, "Yes, he deserves this," and then went back to his job, waiting for Masaki to come with the puddings.

Before he, his boss, knew it, Masaki had returned with two bags that had the twenty puddings inside. He was busy now, so Masaki had to call him a few times to get his attention from the counter. Finally, he noticed Masaki was back and both went back to the resting room. His boss took the bags from Masaki's hands and placed them at the same table which were he had last throw the newspaper at. He took them all out, making Masaki wonder if he had chosen them well. "Then, what are we waiting for, let's start opening them," he said in his funny accent again, with an exciting smile. Feeling this was a chance, upon hearing his boss say such nice things but still in that accent that always made him laugh, he unwillingly let out a giggle. Being used to that reaction but not from Masaki, he asked, "What is it?"

Of course it would be very rude to honestly tell him that he was laughing at his accent after all he had done for him, he decided to lie, just this once. "I'm just too excited!"

They opened already nineteen with no luck, and now they were bound to open the last one. "You open it," offered his boss. Instead of doing so, he just shock his head. His boss, being more calm than the other, decided it would be best to open it already.

"Do it quick, like a band-aid," Masaki told his boss once he noticed he was taking way too long and was making him even more nervous than he already was.

His boss listened to him and opened it in one go. Just as they had predicted; the last golden chicken was not there. "It's okay," Masaki finally spoke, trying not to sound too disappointed. "It was to be expected."

His boss noticed this, so he stood up and placed his hand on Masaki's shoulder and said, "Come on, lets get to work." Masaki followed after him and was still disappointed, which resulted on making more clumsy mistakes when taking orders. Taking notice of this, his boss just let him have the whole day to himself for him to rest and refresh his mind.

He reached home, and said in a small voice, "Tadaima," even though no one was there. As he was removing his shoes, he remembered that today would arrive a magazine from a monthly magazine subscription. Upon remembering that, he went back outside and checked his mail; there it was. He took is lazily, not wanting to read, for he knew we would have some problems with the kanji at some parts. He skimmed through it, and he was more than surprised to find even more pictures of the said man who had found the second golden chicken.

It was no longer just questions concerning how or when he found the golden chicken, it asked about his private life! There were two spreads of him; a photoshoot. Three-fourths of the page were used in pictures, while the space left was filled with questions concerning his love life, his worries, his family and all those things which no longer had anything to do with the golden chicken. This man had already become popular in a blink of an eye just because he found the golden chicken.

He then read one question that actually talked about the chicken out the almost forty which said, "How were you able to find the golden chicken?" His response was the worst, even worse than that of the boy named Ninomiya Kazunari. It read, "Some girls found it for me." Apparently he had also been popular before the finding- no, before someone had given him the golden chicken.

"That's not fair!" He said out loud to no one in particular and threw the magazine to the floor and went stomping to take a warm bath, but then he remembered, life had not always been fair to begin with.

I'm supposed to be doing homework~!! *panics*
