Tokyo photo post

So, Tokyo Christmas was a blast. I am madly in love with that city! We stayed at the Shinagwa Prince Hotel which had an aquarium complete with indoor dolphin and seal shows, 2 bowling alleys, a movie theater with an IMAX screen, a huge food court, shopping area and possibly the best cafe in Japan.

We spent our first day there exploring Harajuku and enjoying the craziness near the posh stores there. Christmas day found us in Shinjuku enjoying some yummy Indian food - Osaka is not nearly so big on international food, which is one of the things i dislike most about it. We headed over to Shibuya when it got dark and hit up a fab little bar/restaurant called The Pink Cow for a delicious Christmas dinner. It was one of those dark open types of bars with artwork from local artists on the walls and indie hip hop playing on the stereo. The bar was run by a Californian girl who's been in Tokyo for 16 years. They served up a fabulous Christmas buffet - turkey, ham, roast beef and all the trimmings!

The next day it poured rain and we had a hard time figuring out where to go. We eventually settled on INDOOR SNOWBOARDING! Yes, you heard me right! Here -

Naturally, that's not me getting sic air - It took me a good hour to remember how to stay on my feet. It was LOTS of fun though!

The next day it was almost 70 degrees outside, so we trecked out to Ueno where there is a famous park and lots of museums. From there we visited The John Lennon Museum

And then an incredible Dali exhibit (no pictures of that). After that we found this awesome sushi joint. The main bar table was set up around 3 big pools with fish swimming in them, and at the far end were tanks of mussels, clams, and what looked like enormous snails. Every so often a waitress or a cook would come catch a fish or reach in and grab a snail to make someone's order! Best sushi ever.

At some point in the night after several drinks and two large bottles of sake, Adam accidentally knocked over a bottle and spilled a little bit of sake. The guys next to us helped us clean it, tried to chat with us despite the major language barrier, ordered us a $40 bottle of wine and left!!! Then a new friend sat down and chatted with us for a bit before we left.

All in all it was a really good time. Since we got home I managed to pull a muscle in my back when I sneezed. What a dummy I am! I was home all day yesterday for it! Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the photo post and you all have a happy new year. LOVE YOU!!!!
