Spread my wings and fly away

[Sometimes, the most basic dreams are the most enjoyable. This? This is one of the most basic dreams that anyone can have. Far, far below is a vast city- New York, perhaps, with skyscrapers reaching up like grasping fingers. But that's far below, so far that the cars are just little dots zooming on the freeways. Up here is freedom. Pure, clean air ( Read more... )

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

[Vanille was free falling from a rather terrifying height and while she would normally have the help of Fang's Bahamut or Lightening's gravity defying trick, neither were here to save her]

[Well that's... not good. Teddy doesn't realize this is a dream, nor does he question why there's a woman now falling from where before there had been none. No, the only thing that matters to him is doing the properly heroic thing. He tucks in his wings and goes into a steep dive, racing Vanille to the ground... and before she can hit the skyscrapers, he's caught her. For now he just glides above the rooftops, concern in his voice as he speaks. First things first.] Hey, you okay...?

[She yelps when she's caught, not expecting that, but she wasn't expecting to be free falling, either. She looks up at her rescuer, catching her breath.

She smiles despite being previously scared out of her wits. Free falling and flying she's used to, but not when she can't help the landing situation.]

Yeah, I'm okay.

Thank you for saving me.

It's okay, kind of what I do. [He grins, relieved that she seems to be all right. Catching people in flight isn't half as easy as people think it is, especially with Teddy's super-strength- the first couple of times he tried something like this didn't go nearly as smoothly. But now? She seems fine, and he shows no signs of minding the extra weight.] Anywhere in particular you want me to put you?

[ It's a dream, so Aerith could fly -- if she thought to fly like a bird.

All she really thinks is that she wants to walk on one of those vast, pillowy clouds, and she runs up to it with impossibly long steps, as though on an invisible staircase, until she reaches a low one and clambers onto it (it feels like cotton between her fingers) with a laugh. ]

Oh, oh! It's so big. [ and she looks over to the side and then pulls back, lying down with a gasp. Such a dizzying height...!

Gradually, though, she turns her head to the side and spots someone enjoying themselves. ] Hello!

Hey. [He has to admit, this is not something he's used to seeing. That woman is just... running on thin air. Not flying, walking as though it's a tangible thing. Teddy's never seen that, and now he easily glides around the cloud, orbiting it like a planet to maintain his altitude. And let him speak without his wings getting in the way. He's a little confused still, but he'll work through that.] I, um... don't see many people up here. Not that I mind! Just a little surprised.

[ She sits up a little more, watching how he flies with an admiring curiosity. ] This is my first time up here, so I'm a little surprised to see someone else up here too! But it sounds like you come here often.

[Well... okay, he can't help it. When he sees that she's admiring him, he shows off. Just a little. Turns a perfect loop, wingovers, even hovering for a brief bit, to show that he can. Part of it is showing off, but most of it is just wanting her to see what he can do. Might as well provide some entertainment, right?] Yeah, I do. I love flying.

[He grins as he says it- of all the powers he has, flying has to be one of the coolest.] And sometimes it's just good to get away, you know?

[Billy is up in the air, flying himself without even realizing anyone's around. It's a few minutes before he spots a pair of familiar wings. He flies over toward Teddy's general direction.]

You didn't tell me you were going out for a flight. [not that he'd demand to know; it is just some simple teasing to get the conversation going.]

Hey. ...to be fair, you didn't tell me either. [But he's just teasing as well, grinning as he does a wingover to start hovering next to Billy. If there's anyone he doesn't mind sharing airspace with, it's Billy. So he's grinning, and up here... he dares to get close enough to brush his fingers against Billy's cheek. There's no one up here to be awkward around, so he's a little more open. It's one of the best parts of both of them being able to fly, in his opinion.]

I guess that makes us even. [He smiles, using one of his hands to grab Teddy's fingers which eventually leads to him holding the other's hand.] So why are you up here? Clearing your head or just bored?

A little bit of both, really. I just like it up here. [He shrugs and grins, and while his hovering is a lot more jerky than Billy's- he has to keep flapping his wings, resulting in a somewhat undignified motion- he still holds that hand with a grin. Not shy, not tentative, not now that there's no one to see them.] You?
