I'm back now.  I almost feel disgusted with myself, because I literally laid on the couch all week.  Yesterday, I watched 5 movies in a row.  The rest of the week, I played Jade Empire and watched movies and TV.  Very little reading, and certainly not the Brothers Karamozov (why would I do that?   That would be smart!).

Anyway, my house pretty much exploded yesterday.  My uncle called at about 10:00AM, and talked to my mom for 1 1/12-2 hours.  He and my aunt are 'separated" now.  I use quotation marks because they still live in the same house, but my aunt wants to get a divorce and has a boyfriend now.  My uncle is absolutely devastated.  My mom is now really upset, and my dad is really angry.  And my grandparents are basically saying, "We never liked her, anyway."  They never did.  My aunt was pretty hard to talk to, and she was an obsessive perfectionist.  I don't even know if my other uncle knows yet.  He absolutely hated my aunt, especially after he had kids (for the record, my cousins are destructive, obnoxious little brats and I don't want them in my house either).  So my aunt and uncle will probably get divorced.  I don't know how I feel about this.  My aunt has been around for my entire life.  She and my uncle started dating shortly before I was born, I think.  They got married when I was 10.  I like my aunt a lot better than, say, my other uncle, who is loud and rude.  But five years ago, she did something similar, but they got back together.  Today is their 10th wedding anniversary.  So, yeah.  Should be interesting.  What really gets me, though, is that this is probably the reason why my mom was so unwelcome in their house before Christmas, and why she had to drive 12 hours to bring me back to school instead of taking 2 days to drive.  I think my uncle would like my mom to stay over, but my aunt doesn't want her there at all.

Anyway, it's really cold.  It was -16 degrees when we left the house at 7:00 this morning.  When I dropped our movies off at the library, my fingers almost stuck to the metal drop-off bin.  And the heat in my mom's pick-up is not working all that well.  It's only 6 years old, too.

break, family
