Ahh. This feels better. So my last entry was copied and pasted from another website (blogger.com) where I had initially planned on documenting my summer in Japan. But I like it on lj better :) thanks though rachel! :P Also, my last entry didn't speak that much about rachel because I guess I was writing with the intention of documenting the facts of the trip, but over here that need not be the case because only people I know will be reading this! :)
So... Day 6
Last night I ended up cooking dinner for myself... I cooked some rice, bacon, eggs and lettuce. Wasn't very tasty... but that's only because I didn't have the right ingredients ;)
Oh yes, before that I went to the gym - hmmmmmmm. It's a very small gym that is minimally equipped! But nevertheless it did the trick and I am feeling sore today :P
I woke up this morning to the sweet voice of my dear, dear Rachel! Actually, I woke up several times and went right back to sleep :P But when I did finally get up she was there waiting for me and it was great!!! I love webcam and skype (cough...webcam?...) <--- Rachel hasn't been able to find her webcam which is really sad, but I know she (and her whole family!!!) have tried really hard to find it. I'm still very grateful I can hear her beautiful voice! It makes me feel that much more at home over here. This single that I live in strangely feels as though I'm sharing it with her, which is a really cool feeling :)
So anyways, after chatting for a bit with rachel she went to play mj with her family and I went out to have lunch. I was planning on going to a pizza place called Pizza La, but it turned out they only delivered. Since I was already out, I decided to go to this Brazilian Pizzeria I had passed the other day. When I got there I wasn't very impressed with the place; it was small, kind of run down, the menu was cheap etc etc. BUT, when I looked at the price for a pizza!! MAMA MIA!!! 27,000 Yen!!! Which is about 26 dollars!!!!!! ahem... so now there I was already seated with menu in hand trying to figure out how to politely leave the restaurant..... "excuse me sir, do you have canalony," I asked thinking they didn't. "Yes, we certainly do," said the waiter. Uh oh... what now??? "Ummmm, thanks but I've got to go! bye!" hahahahahahahahaha. Didn't exactly happen like that (plus there was japanese involved and it's difficult to get an exact translation... cough..) but the waiter was extremely polite like all Japanese people I have met and even wished me a good day with a seemingly genuine smile on his face!! Ole!!
So where did I have my lunch? The Aeon shopping center was right there so I went in and ate at.... McDonalds... gross. Thoroughly disgusted at myself and at McDonalds... their equivalent of a chicken burger had lime in it... bleh. So I walked around for a bit and found exactly what I was hoping to find!!! (which was very, very, exciting for me!!!) and then headed back to my room. I got back and started working. 30mins later Rachel came online and we chatted for a bit and then she went to watch a movie with her parents. I carried on working and then took a shower.
When I got back I worked some more (my wall is beginning to be covered with post-its of japanese vocabulary! Looks pretty cool!) and when rachel came online again we played literati.... where she kicked my ass... it still hurts when I sit. We then played pool (she had never played it before) and after a brief reign of dominance (ummm, one game) she quickly proceeded to show me how it's done... final score: 2-2 which is very impressive in my opinion.
Anyways, I bid her goodnight (she's still sleeping... I hope she's having sweet, sweet dreams. She deserves the best) and went to prepare my dinner. Guess what I made? Rice with bacon and eggs... again :P hahaha. It wasn't too bad. AAAHHHhh hYes!
While I was having my dinner, I was sitting next to two people who were studying; Let's call the guy Pato and the girl Mary. So, after 2 seconds of sitting there (I was invited to join them by Pato) it was clear that Pato was hitting on Mary BIG TIME. Pato is French. Mary is thai i think. Anyways, he was poking her and kind of caressing her etc and I thought he was being a bit too forward... Pato then asks me if I'm married and I say no, thinking it's a very strange question (this is all in japanese by the way). He then asks me if I have a girlfriend to which I say yes, and he asks me if she is swiss etc :P and I say nooooo she is American. Anyways, the Mary points at Pato and laughs and says you dont have a girlfriend. Now I'm still thinking Why would he ask me if i'm married??? A thought occurs to me and I check Mary's ring finger and what do you know??? RING!!!!!! She was married!!!! AND HERE WAS THIS GUY WHO CLEARLY KNEW SHE WAS MARRIED, OUTRIGHT FLIRTING WITH HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhh MAnanananananna!!!
Mary (as in MARRIED) was definitely not flirting with him and she was trying to work, but I guess she was not trying to be rude so she didn't just get up and leave or something. He even took off her glasses (he wears glasses as well) and tried to see through them - HE THEN tried to put them back on for her!!! She resisted for as long as she could but finally acquiesced... it must be so difficult for women to just get rid of persistent men without being blunt. Seeing that got me wondering how my babe would react if some guy was hitting on her like that... I honestly don't know. But I do know I can trust her and that is enough.
So now here I am after dinner documenting what happened this sunday July 9th 2006. I am ready for bed now so I think I'll retire... it was good talking to you.
