[ For a moment, there's nothing visible on the screen except for the bright blue feathers of a tropical bird. Waffle (because that's the name of the bird) then flits away from the device to perch on a piece of furniture, allowing the device to record the young woman who is, at the moment, unaware that she's being recorded. She isn't doing much, simply getting herself a glass of water.
At least, that was her plan. Suddenly, the glass drops, shattering on the floor. Ariadne doesn't move, eyes slightly wide, as though she's seeing something that isn't there.
Her leg hurts, shaking now that she has to support her own weight. She's standing on something -- a gravestone, unkempt -- and there are people all around her, most of them masked, save for the man shoving a piece of wood (wand) into her hand and the man with red eyes who now speaks.
"You have been taught how to duel, Harry Potter?"
She's not Harry, though -- she knows Harry, but she isn't him. She opens her mouth to try and tell him, but no sound comes out.
"We bow to each other, Harry," and he bends slightly, and she tries to make a noise of disgust; he looks like a snake, slit pupils and flat nose. "Come, the niceties must be observed. ... Dumbledore would like you to show manners." Who is Dumbledore? "Bow to death, Harry...."
There's laughter, but she (Harry) doesn't move, doesn't bow. Death... is this some twisted war game?
"I said, bow." And the man raises his stick (wand), and suddenly she has to bow, and there's even more laughter. "Very good." Then standing again (standing as she stands in her kitchen, staring at something that isn't real, moving though she is in her mind), and he speaks again. "And now you face me, like a man... straight-backed and proud, the way your father died..." His father is dead? "And now -- we duel."
And suddenly everything hurts, white-hot knives piercing her body, and she's screaming.
The screaming doesn't stay within the hallucination, and it's enough to terrify the bird who started the broadcast into a startled frenzy of feathers. The device is knocked to the ground and shuts off, though the memory playing through her mind doesn't. ]
((ooc: So! Ariadne has been hit with the Reruns and Syndications curse, but instead of reliving one of her own memories, she's reliving one of
andchoice's; aka all of chapter 34 of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (also known as the duel in the graveyard scene, magic sparkly beams of light and shades of dead people included). The screaming is due to reliving Harry being hit by the Cruciatus Curse. Network answers will be timed after she's finished reliving the rest of the memory, while she'll still be hallucinating for part of any action threads. Voldemort's dialogue is taken directly from the US version of the book.))
