So, after a week of being an adult, i.e. having a job, I've concluded that being in school is much better. You'd think that one of the benefits of working is being free once you get home, but such is not the case. I actually have homework. I'm on vacation and I have homework. And this isn't even real work--I'm in a program, so I don't think I can get fired if I do a bad job.
But, as usual, I tend to overdramatize and complain too much. There are some benefits--two hour lunch breaks, the knowledge that the half-ass job on a lab book will not be reflected in a final grade, and of course, Fourth of July off. That's something to anticipate.
But I had a nice realization this weekend: you know that sad feeling that you get when you think that graduating high school means that you'll never get to see some people ever again, no matter how much effort you make to try to keep in touch? Not the case. The nice thing about living where we do, despite certain shortcomings, is that we inevitably randomly run into people that we know. Moral of the story: it's possible to see and talk to people you know without the benefits of facebook. But facebook certainly does help.
