I have this cute little new car. The old one (a 2000 New Beetle, TDI - great mileage, but was becoming a money pit) suited me to a "T" (besides the money pit thing). This new one is growing on me. It's a fantastic shade of orange-y red (officially called "Tango Red"). Sadly, it's an automatic - something I had vowed never to buy by choice. Necessity for a non-death-inviting vehicle forced this concession.
So, the dash sports a digital odometer, indicated by the L.C.D. readout "odo" followed by the actual miles driven (I do miss the trip-meter I had in the bug). I'm at nearly 1200 now...
This little label sits at the top of the display, almost left-justified. The far left upper corner displays a larger letter indicating the gear: "P" for park, "R" for reverse, and so on. As one might suspect, a large, capital "D" shows when one engages the transmission for forward motion. This, in turn, forces me to see the word "Dodo" at all times the car is in drive.
ouch.
