(( ooc: Russ is shuffling cards in the casino for anyone who feels like running into him. For the sake of lulz, he did not see the Major and Akagi's antics earlier. ))
[Russ sits up a little straighter and sets the cards down next to his bottle of beer. He'd spent some time going through the communicators, paying attention to IDs and names. They'd never met, but he knew who this man was.
[Kage said, raising his eyebrows and seating himself across from Russ. He's drunk already, coming down off the high of some codeine pills he swallowed. He'd been thinking about his conversation with Even and things had gotten too much to keep him from finding relief any way he could, even chemical.]
[Ah ... well everyone had downtime, even the Captain, Russ supposed. Picking up the cards again, he fanned them neatly, then squared them off and began shuffling one-handed.]
[And a guy who looked like he came straight out of some theater production. Not a lot made Russ think twice anymore though, and he grinned at the man, offering him a smoke.]
[Samuel turns to the man with the cigarettes. he looks him up and down.]
Russ, you say? Could that be short for "Ruscott," as in the "Gordon p. Ruscott's"? I used to school with the Ruscotts. Did you attend cotillion in Oxford?
Kage makes a fist and stares at it, wondering vaguely if he could shove it down his throat and die before anyone managed to restrain him. Probably not.
Kage reaches over and takes Samuel's hat and drops it on his own head, then drags on his smoke, raising his eyebrows at Russell.]
Yeah, Russ, Did you attend Cotillon in Awksfurd? I used t'school with th'Ruscotts, too.
Kage blinks, cigarette in his mouth and looks at the earnest man with flushed cheeks who seems honestly delighted to see him. '
No one, but no one, likes seeing Kage. They might respect him. They might enjoy his presence at most, but no one looks happy when Kage walks into the room.]
Uh... yeah. Sure, man. Y'can have your fruity hat back.
[Kage looks at Russ. Is he seeing this? Is this for real? This is a hallucination, right? Kage digs into his pocket and brings out the blister-pack of pills he took his coedeine from. Yeah, it was codeine, not sheets of acid. Okay.]
Hey.
Reply
He greets him with a nod.]
First Mate.

You-- Russell. Right?

[Russ can smell the alcohol on the man, and idly wonders how safe a ship this is when the First Mate is completely plastered.]
S'me. Call me Russ.
[He grins, a deceptively warm smile.]
I don't think I've had the pleasure.

Russ, then. Hey, man, call me Kage, I'm off duty right now, y'know?
[Kage touches the outside of his index finger to his forehead and gestures, grinning. His shoulders are relaxed.]
Reply
Kage then. S'a nice boat you got here.

[He grins.]
I just work on it, aye?

[Fishing around in his shirt pocket, he pulls out a pack of cigarettes and takes one out, offering the pack to Kage afterwards.]
Tell you what, s'a bloody weird place though.

Good evening, gentlemen!
[he takes a seat directly next to Kage.]
Why, good sir, you do seem a bit flustered. Let's find you a refreshment!
Reply
Yeah. Samuel or some shit. Hey. Sup.
[He takes the offered cigarettes from Russell and brings out the battered silver zippo to light up.]

Rubbing his face with one hand, he tucks the cigarettes away and gestures to Kage for a light.]
No. Nah.
[He chuckles a little.]
Nah mate. Too bloody posh for me.

[he rubs at his hair- a mess of muddy brown too long flattened- and turns to Kage.]

[his eyes widen in recognition. ]
