At first the way this was edited drove me nuts but the more I've rewatched it the less it bothers me. I think in a season or two they could actually be together as a stable background thing, and it wouldn't distract from the mythology/cases or the important Walter/Peter dynamic. (I also think Fringe should do what Lost did and ask for an end date, and probably shouldn't go beyond four/five seasons. But I think that about most if not all tv, so.)
