so yesterday i had a total stranger crying on my front porch, begging me to take in her cat.  she said someone in augusta (like, three towns away) gave her my address?!?!?!
THIS IS NOT A DROP-IN CENTER.
i'm royally pissed at whoever gave out my address.

That is SO not right! Sometimes I wonder where people's brains are--or if they even have brains at all.

Ugh. Our neighboors have done something like that before. "We found this kitten. You guys like animals. Do you want it?"

FUCK NO. But if we don't take it it'll probably die, so whatever, sure.

Were you able to help the lady/direct her toward someone who could?

we're full right now with 4 foster cats and 6 of our own. i got her in touch with our intake coordinator who gave her the name of a different place to try.

That's good. This economy is reeking hell on pets, their owners, and rescue.

We've five of our own right now, plus Terri's two, which we'll be keeping if she can't take them back, plus the two kittens.

damn, you're almost as bad as i am.
our local news station did a short segment a couple weeks ago about how the economy is effecting pets and how many animals are being given up, etc. they interviewed someone from our rescue, and then the news people made it sound like lots of people are giving up their pets... but NO PROBLEM! these people will take them and promptly find GREAT homes for them! i'd like to know where all these prospective new owners are lined up. AND i'd like to know in what universe a rescue is NEVER full.

Oh my god!?? She didn't know who it was!?!??! Jesus fucking christ.

People suck. The worst thing that happened to me was one of our neighbors came and asked us if we could take her sick daughters seven cats. "Some of them" were already fixed!!

But I mean, we were neighbors so it wasn't an issue of someone giving out or address. That is just low.

Uh this is totally random and unrelated, but I was checking out Sunny's frapper and say that you lived in Kalamazoo, so I thought I would see if I knew you, but I don't think so, but I was wondering if Sheila's kitty, Littleman, was named as a reference to the Trocar song? I mean most kids know most kids and it wouldn't be unheard of. Maybe you know/knew rena_titanon as she is closer to your age and a lesbian. Okay, I'll shut up and go away now.

sheila is my partner. littleman was originally named 'loki' after the norse god of death and destruction, but he was just too damn cute to be taken seriously, so she just started calling him littleman. no relation to trocar.
i don't know who that other person is. her userinfo says she is in ann arbor.

Ahh, just checking since ya know, kalamazoo bands tend to know everyone in kalamazoo. That other person is Kate Beauchamp. I think she went to central though. She moved to Ann Arbor with her wife a number of years ago, but grew up in Kalamazoo and went to K.

ah. i went to portage northern, then alt. ed, then a boarding school up near traverse city for high school.
the only local band i was ever very familiar with was grotto north, because my friend was in it. aside from that, i didn't spend a whole lot of time in the band/club scene.
