so yesterday i had a total stranger crying on my front porch, begging me to take in her cat.  she said someone in augusta (like, three towns away) gave her my address?!?!?!
THIS IS NOT A DROP-IN CENTER.
i'm royally pissed at whoever gave out my address.

Uh this is totally random and unrelated, but I was checking out Sunny's frapper and say that you lived in Kalamazoo, so I thought I would see if I knew you, but I don't think so, but I was wondering if Sheila's kitty, Littleman, was named as a reference to the Trocar song? I mean most kids know most kids and it wouldn't be unheard of. Maybe you know/knew rena_titanon as she is closer to your age and a lesbian. Okay, I'll shut up and go away now.

sheila is my partner. littleman was originally named 'loki' after the norse god of death and destruction, but he was just too damn cute to be taken seriously, so she just started calling him littleman. no relation to trocar.
i don't know who that other person is. her userinfo says she is in ann arbor.

Ahh, just checking since ya know, kalamazoo bands tend to know everyone in kalamazoo. That other person is Kate Beauchamp. I think she went to central though. She moved to Ann Arbor with her wife a number of years ago, but grew up in Kalamazoo and went to K.

ah. i went to portage northern, then alt. ed, then a boarding school up near traverse city for high school.
the only local band i was ever very familiar with was grotto north, because my friend was in it. aside from that, i didn't spend a whole lot of time in the band/club scene.

well then, never mind. I'll go back to my shutting up and leave the random replying. I just really missing Kalamazoo sometimes. Granted in a contest of Sunny vs. Kalamazoo, I'll take Sunny every time, but I still miss it.

And some day I will take Sunny there and revel in the joy that is, well a whole bunch of places that hopefully haven't closed down yet *sniff, Blake's Diner, sniff*.

I pretty much figured that Fourth Coast was still around. Rockstar was owned by some friends of mine and it was sad to hear that it had closed.

Other places I really miss are the bagel store next to forth coast that I've forgotten the name of and it makes me crazy daily, Cosmo's (I used to work for the owners at the Kalamazoo Color Lab), Steak and Shake (yeah, I know it's not just a kalamazoo thing, but that's the only one I've been to), Holly's (which was by K college but closed down many years ago), Mi Ranchito, I'd spent a lot of time at the coffee shop that Derek Kenney owned down on lovell and of course Blake's diner, which I'd already mentioned, but both of those closed down. I left in 2000. I still visited quite a bit until I married Sunny and moved up here. I also frequented a few of the tattoo shops and used to work with Kalamazoo Ballet Theater.

I could probably go on and on and that would get boring fast. But one day, I'm going to have the opportunity to take Sunny there and show her around. It's just a dream of

were you friends with bill from rocketstar? a friend of mine dated him for a while.
the bagel store next to fourth coast was klein's, but then it got bought and the name was changed to the bagel beanery. it's still pretty cool though. i was just there the other day.
the mi ranchito on westnedge is gone. some dumb tile store or something moved in there, but i doubt they will last long. mi ranchito on 9th st is still open though.
what tattoo shops did you hang out at? i got inked at body armor (@ westnedge & whites), and by raven in otsego. do you remember the oracle/asylum across from 4th coast? they very VERY recently closed down.
you guys can totally crash at my place for free if/when you come visit some time.

Yup, I knew Bill. I knew him the least though of the people who owned Rockstar.

Earl from Body Armor is a buddy of mine (although I'm not sure if he's still there). His step daughter was in the Ballet Company I worked with. He did about 5 or so of my tattoos. Then when Joe Stamp was working at Asylum, I got a few from him. I don't know if you knew Joe by any chance, but that place kind of sketched me out and I would not have gone there if not for him being there.

Who knows if or when we'll be out that way, but we'll definitely give you a heads up. We'd probably stay at my Aunts place though because we'd probably have kids with us and all that. Thanks for randomly chatting with me.

asylum was nothing but a front for aaron to sell drugs and it amazes me that it lasted as long as it did. he pierced my hand once, and was scoring ON THE PHONE while he was doing it.
