I'm still.... not pleased by the ending to the Dark Tower series. I haven't picked up anything he's read since then. I haven't consciously been avoiding him.
Granted, he didn't pull a Neil Stephenson and write the ending of the novel in an abrupt page and a half, but it didn't feel satisfying to have the antagonist merely a capering snidely-whiplash-esque buffoon at the end. King has written amazing villains, but for all the build up, it just went pffft.
Have you read Bag of Bones? I think because I read so fast that I really really love the excessively long stuff he does sometimes. And it was just... Man, I love that book SO MUCH.
So, here's the thing. My body hair is kind of sparse. I've seen naked women in various settings and I am sometimes kind of amazed by how lush a lot of women's pubic hair is. Because there just isn't a whole lot of it, I don't, as a general rule, do much with mine. I've had partners in the past who were into it and I've trimmed and partially shaved (which is, like, an invitation for ingrown hairs, good grief) but without that incentive, I tend to just leave it as is.
I think they started getting really hit or miss over the summer last year - and I was REALLY depressed over the summer last year. Like, I was not functioning on anything resembling all cylinders.
And then they just never... I don't know. I couldn't tell if people liked them/wanted them and I was out of the habit.
I do miss them though - October 5th would be the day so I will try to mark my calendar and set one up.
I miss secret mondays. They're beautiful, heartbreaking, fun, and just really honest. It always causes me to step back and take a look at myself and see how honest I'm being with my own brain.
Sometimes they just feel so HEAVY - no pun intended - especially when people are confessing how much they loathe their bodies. It breaks my heart. I've seen some really beautiful things happen, though, and I miss that.
I've never NOT had access to a computer of some kind ( my dad was a tech guy for a long time) so I've always typed. I used to really enjoy writing letters by hand but at this point I type So Much Faster than I write things that when I need to get something out, typing is my preferred method. I still think faster than my fingers can go but at least I can keep up a LITTLE better. *grin
( ... )
Haha, I could have written that first paragraph myself. XD Grew up on computers (and had an electric keyboard once, I LOVED that thing) so typing is way faster.
I did have to use a typewriter for a little while when I lived with my grandparents in the 9th grade but it wasn't like I was BARRED from computers - they just didn't have one in the house themselves. Typing is just... it's funny how something so artificial feels so natural, isn't it?
