I can't believe that such a small town as Alstead has been hit so hard with flooding. My summer cottage is in that town, and I just heard that it survived the flood (it was on the opposite side of the breached dam on Lake Warren.) However, 3 people are dead, and anywhere between 14 people are still missing. I spent a joyous week driving around the ( Read more... )

That picture of the road that got just TORN up by the water amazes me to no end.

That's just crazy.

Now, the area looks a little different:

Did it look "almost" that bad before? Christ.

Anyway, I'd donate but I don't even have the money to eat.

WHAT THE HELL?!?! How come no one has told me this is happening/happened. God damn it. I'm consumed with work like hell but why oh why couldnt I have paid more attention to the news. *sigh* Another reason I feel so cut off from my old life.

I'm donating tomorrow morning...

The ironic part about it is that it's something that I'd expect to happen in certain parts of California, but never did I think that it could happen to one of my favorite places in the world. And I'm glad you're donating because the people in that area really need it!

I think everyone pretty much assumed that this would never happen to us. It would have been one thing if it was a freaking hurricane or something, but it was just a rainstorm. One minute I'm sitting in my friend's room playing some X-Men game at 5 in the morning, the next minute his mom is pounding on the door saying we need to move the cars because the house has a fucking moat ( ... )

On the news, they showed the foundations of houses that had been completely swept away on 123 and 123A in Alstead... it was pretty fucked up. But I do agree with most of what you had to say. The flooding in NH is certainly dwarfed by Katrina and Rita, but at the same time, the area is much more close to me on many levels.
