...

[it is a voice he does not recognize, and that alone has him narrowing his eyes at the magic box. he scoffs under his breath and walks over to the magic box]

I had not noticed.

[He keeps quiet for a moment, replying only when he believes his voice won't convey any frustration or annoyance.]

You'll want to get into the habit of turning it off when you're not using it. Too often people only learn their lesson after they've recorded themselves involved in... personal activities.

Just another reason one cannot trust magic.

Trust? You turned it on. You can turn it off. It's yours to control.

If, as you say, it will record things at it's own whim, then that seems a bit out of my control.

I never said it's able to switch itself on at will.

[he frowns. clearly he misunderstood]

Did you not say it records... 'personal activities'? I fail to understand why someone would turn this magic box on during such moments.

I don't think they ever mean to. At least, most of them don't. Nudging the communicator aside or knocking it to the floor can be enough to hit the button. A nosy direwolf is also more then capable of accidentally switching one on.

How... unreliable.

[somehow he suspects the makers of the device did so on purpose, and he shakes his head with a sigh]

I take you didn't have anything like this in your home world.

Nothing even remotely close.

What world was it, if you don't mind me asking?

[watch the red flags go up]

That hardly matters now, I would think.
