The Yankees came to town to play the Tigers and Kathy and I went to a game on Wednesday. It was supposed to be Tuesday night, but rain delayed it until Wednesday afternoon. It was not a good day for the Yanks. Javier Vazquez finally pitched a good game. He only gave up 2 runs, but the Yankees couldn't score and lost by a score of 2-0. They got plenty of hits off of Tigers pitcher Rick Porcello, but couldn't drive in the runs. A-Rod sucked! He went 0-5. There was a kid at the game that had a sign that said "I'm playing hookie to see the Yankees." His mom was with him and he said that the teachers and administrators at school knew about it and were fine with it. This shocked me. My parents NEVER would have let me skip school for a baseball game and I certainly would have gotten in trouble at school as well. This is the wrong message to send to a kid. He is going to think it is OK skip work for a game when he is an adult and get fired. This is bad parenting! The Yankees won the second game of Wednesday's double header by a score of 8-0, but lost 3 out of four games to the Tigers and 4 of their last 5. Not a good stretch of games. Hopefully, they will get it together tonight against the Twins. All this said, I still had a great time at the game.
