Someone tried to get into our car again. This time, there was NOTHING of interest visible. Yes, we have a new stereo, but the face wasn't on it. NOTHING else was in there that they could have looked at and said, "Hmmm, I want that." They tried to get in the passenger's side door. They fucking broke the lock completely from the outside (still

I took a closer look at the damage. The lock is ruined for sure, and I know the lock, if not the whole handle, will have to be replaced. Also, I would like the paint around the handle redone. But to do that, they might have to paint the whole door... We'll see. The rubber around most of the door should be replaced, too, since it's all torn up. I'm just worried that if it IS the same person doing this that they're going to see that we got all the damages fixed and say to themselves, "Oh, they have money then. Let me go do something else to their car." *sigh* But we don't have money. We just have insurance, and since I like for my car to not be all beat up, yes we will pay our $250 deductible in order to have it fixed.
We're going to be taking several measures against this sort of thing happening again. We're going to get an alarm installed for about $360, all parts and labor included. It has a paging system, too, so if the alarm goes off a signal goes to the pager. That's good, because as Jessie mentioned, it sometimes takes a WHILE for people to notice that their alarms is going off. On top of that, we probably will still do renter's insurance. But since we do keep all of our valuables with us when we leave the car now, we might not do that right away. Also, I'm adding car rental coverage to my insurance policy. That's like $3.20 a month.
Another thing I'm worried about: France. A whole month of the car just sitting there. I'm going to try to find a friend who has a garage I can borrow while I'm away... This just bites.
