"All I Saw Was You" “What’s this?” Stiles asks, grabbing the paper that Jackson is holding as he sits on the sofa not far from him.
Jackson sighs, “have a look.”
“A check?” Stiles raises his eyebrows when he sees the figure. “What? From your parents?”
“Yeah, obviously, this is the reason why she asked me to have lunch with them today.”
“So, what’s that exactly?”
“Umm…You know my parents are weird so I don’t think you’ll be surprised anyway… so, the thing is that she thinks she should help to pay for Kyle’s expenses while he is at university and she wanted to give him this money for his birthday next Saturday but she thought that maybe it was better to ask for our opinion first and them, she decided that it was better to give it to us directly so that we manage it instead of him… which I supposed was my father’s decision anyway.”
Stiles snorts, “and what did you say?”
“Well, I said, I had to ask what you thought because what was I supposed to say? On the one hand, I don’t wanna argue with them and on the other hand, she said she wants to support his career and it’s true that living there.. the school… it’s gonna be expensive and I suppose that they must think that we have enough expenses paying for Daniel’s college and whatever Ilya is going to do in the future.”
Stiles sits sideways, running a hand through his hair. The truth is that having three kids, that money would actually help… especially now that Jackson and Kane’s law firm is still relatively new.
“Just say it.” Jackson waves his right arm. “ What are you thinking?”
“Well, I’m thinking… who in this universe would have thought that your parents would like to be patrons of the arts? I mean, it’s kind of surreal that Kyle, out of all people, is the one in this family who has your parents eating out of his hand. And you know what, I’m happy for him.” After all, the kid never had anybody on his side and if anybody deserves to have grandparents who love and support him, that’s him.
