1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 4 sentences on your LJ along with these instructions.
5. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.

I have a pile of four five next to me... so I picked the bottom one as, being biggest, it actually sticks out nearer to me (plus I've used the top one in these memes before!)

Since the advent of agriculture, two changes have taken place. Over-grazing has damaged much of the grass cover, with a resultant spread of sagebrush; and a lot of grass and sagebrush lands have been converted to domestic crops such as alfalfa and clover.Where these changes have not been too extensive, the habitat is still good for the sage grouse. With domestic crops have come other plant invaders, such as Russian thistle and other weeds.

In American game birds by FC Edminster (1954).

(Other books in the pile were Insects of Britain and Northern Europe, Habitats for birds in Europe, The Partridge and Farming and birds.... The perils of doing these memes in the office!)
