“Oh, that one is pretty.”

Sanghyuk leaned over Taekwoon’s shoulder to point at the iPad’s screen.

“That ring colour would look good on you, hyung.”

Taekwoon stared at the screen a little longer before flipping it off. He shrugged the younger away, stretching as he got up. “It’s not for me.”

Sanghyuk grinned at him. “Oh? There must be someone special then.”

“There’s no one.”

Sanghyuk raised an eyebrow, snickering as he dodged Taekwoon’s kick. “You’re so obvious, hyung.”

---

“Since when do you watch dramas?”

Taekwoon tried not to groan as Hakyeon joined him on the couch. He turned up the volume in his headphones only to have Hakyeon grab an ear bud.

“That’s so dramatic,” Hakyeon said. He pointed at the main lead, huffing as the actor flung himself into his lover’s arms. “It’s never that intense.”

“You would know about that, wouldn't you, hyung?”

Taekwoon flinched at Hongbin’s voice, trying to focus on the drama as the younger sat beside him. He breathed in the scent of fresh laundry and cologne.

“Yah, I’ve had passionate relationships before,” Hakyeon retorted. “Don’t underestimate me.”

“Hm,” Hongbin chuckled. “Were they very hot?”

There was a high-pitched laugh as Jaehwan joined them, leaping on top of the leader and screaming “pervert pervert!” as he poked him. Sanghyuk cheered in the background as Wonshik followed Jaehwan, squishing Taekwoon in a flurry of limbs and sweat.

Taekwoon would have been annoyed, maybe even angry, to be caught in a pile of such immature boys if not for the fact that Hongbin was right next to him, soft hair pressing into his neck and warm laughter so close that if Taekwoon looked down he could see probably see the light pink across Hongbin’s lips-

“I think Hakyeon hyung is just jealous,” Hongbin whispered, glancing up at Taekwoon. He groaned briefly- Get your fat ass off of me, Wonshik!- before continuing. “He just doesn’t know what it feels like to be in love.”

His lips curled up, dimples showing almost obnoxiously so as he laughed when Hakyeon fell off the couch. Hongbin’s hands fluttered up to cover his smile, eyes squinting with pure mirth and excitement, and Taekwoon sucked in his breath, relishing the full sound of Hongbin’s chuckles-

“Yah, Jung Taekwoon!” Hakyeon shouted, pointing up at him. “Wipe that obnoxious smile off your face!”

---

Taekwoon rifled through his closet for the fifth time, shoving aside his monotonous selection of clothes with a frustrated sigh.

“Does glaring at your clothes make them any better?”

Jaehwan peeked over his shoulder, yelping in pain when Taekwoon kicked him.

“There’s nothing to wear,” Taekwoon said. He sunk to the floor and covered his face. “Unbelievable.”

“You’re going to the convenience store,” Jaehwan deadpanned. “Who on earth do you want to impress there?”

Head still in his hands, Taekwoon reached out to kick the younger once more.

“Let me borrow something.”

Jaehwan immediately brightened, getting up to dramatically fling open his closet. “Let Ken-jumma dress you. I will make you look fabulous.”

Taekwoon looked inside, ignoring Jaehwan’s rambling to grab a light pink polo. “This.”

“Oh no, no.” Jaehwan plucked the shirt out of his hands to replace it with a navy button-up. “You’re going to wear this.”

“But-”

“Trust me, hyung.” Jaehwan smirked, patting him on the back. “It’s Hongbin’s favorite colour.”

In the living room, Hongbin looked up in alarm when he heard Jaehwan’s piercing scream. “What was that?”

“Don’t worry about it,” Hakyeon replied, not even looking up from his phone.

“But didn’t Jaehwan hyung just-”

“Don’t question these things.”

Hongbin bit his lip, ready to go check on his hyung, when Taekwoon stepped out from the room.

“Let’s go,” he said, quickly putting on his shoes.

“Um, is Jaehwan hyung okay?”

“He’ll be fine in a few hours.”

“Okay. Wait, what?”

Taekwoon tugged on Hongbin’s hand, ushering him out the door. “Let’s go.”

Bewildered, Hongbin followed him out before pausing to turn back. “Hakyeon hyung, do you want anything from the store?”

“I’m good,” Hakyeon replied. He glanced up to smile at Hongbin sweetly before yelling, “Nice shirt, Taekwoonie!”

“Wait here,” Taekwoon said, leaving Hongbin outside. “I’ll be right out.”

Hongbin didn’t even have a chance to respond before the door flung shut and screams of “mercy, mercy!” echoed from inside.

---

Hongbin narrowed his eyes when he saw a small stuffed animal on his pillow. He warily poked it a few times. “Um.”

“Aw, it’s so cute!” Hakyeon said, reaching over to snatch it out of Hongbin’s hands. “Did you get it from a fan?”

“No,” Hongbin replied. “I have no idea where it came from. I keep finding these little gifts on my pillow every time we get back from rehearsals.”

“Creepy,” Wonshik said. “Maybe this apartment is haunted.”

“Stop it!” Hakyeon shouted. “I won’t be able to sleep tonight if you scare me.”

“Just saying,” Wonshik shrugged before turning back to Hongbin. “What else did you get?”

“Like, books and cookies and stuff.” Hongbin gave a small smile. “I guess it’s nice that someone is thinking about me.”

Wonshik nodded, raising an eyebrow in amusement when he noticed Taekwoon come quietly into the room. The elder’s eyes widened when he saw Hongbin hugging the stuffed animal, and he quickly turned away before anyone could catch the blush that spread across his face. Anyone except Wonshik, that is.

“Hey Hongbin,” he said. “Didn’t you say you wanted to try a sweet bun from that new bakery down the street?”

“I guess,” Hongbin replied. “I don’t have time to stop by and get one though.”

“Oh, too bad. I thought you really wanted one.”

Wonshik laughed to himself as he saw the way Taekwoon’s shoulders stiffened, the slight movement of his head as he turned to hear Hongbin’s response.

“I’ll try it one day,” Hongbin said.

Wonshik snickered. “Oh, I’m sure you will.”

That evening, Hongbin stared in dumbfoundment when he found a box of sweet buns on his pillow.

Wonshik laughed so loudly that their manager threatened to toss him off the balcony.

---

“Oh, I love this song.”

Hongbin sat down next to Taekwoon, leaning closer so that he could hear Park Hyo Shin croon from the laptop's speakers. Taekwoon froze when he felt the younger’s head on his shoulder.

“His voice makes me happy,” Hongbin said. “Kind of like your’s, hyung.”

Taekwoon choked.

And for a moment, all he could hear was the furious beating of his heart in time to Hongbin’s soft hums, the air-con in the corner blowing the scent of detergent and Hermes aftershave and Hongbin all around him, and Taekwoon could say without exaggeration that he had never felt more content.

---

“A man really does change when he’s in love,” Hakyeon sighed. “Even our little Taekwoonie turns into a sweet boy.”

Wonshik shouted in alarm when Taekwoon flung himself over the table at the elder. Jaehwan reached between the two only to get socked in the stomach by Taekwoon as Hakyeon screamed loudly in his ear “save me, you fools!” Sanghyuk laughed loudly as he tugged uselessly on Taekwoon’s arms - “Hyung, you can’t be an idol if you kill someone”- and their manager sighed before leaving the room.

“What’s going on?” Hongbin asked, sitting next to Taekwoon. “Did Hakyeon hyung do something stupid again?”

“No!” Hakyeon shouted. “I was just saying Taekwoon-”

“One more word,” Taekwoon gritted his teeth. “If you say one more word, I will make sure you never procreate.”

“That might be a good thing actually,” Sanghyuk mused. “For the sake of mankind and all.”

Hakyeon reached over to slap the younger - “Maknaes don’t speak out of turn in this household!”- and the room was filled with noise again as Jaehwan joined in to tease Hakyeon, Wonshik’s deep chuckles echoing in the background and Sanghyuk’s snarky comments eliciting more laughter when

Taekwoon felt Hongbin slip their fingers together. The younger only gave a soft smile before turning back to the group, pointing at Jaehwan who imitated Hakyeon’s high-pitched yelps with surprising accuracy, and Taekwoon found himself smiling brightly because really, it felt so good to be in love.

“Yah, Jung Taekwoon!” Hakyeon yelled. “Wipe that disgusting smirk off your face!”
