SHOW, YOU ARE THE BEST THING IN THE WHOLE GALAXY.
First thing's first: I have absolutely NO idea what the hell is going on, and it's just the best thing ever.
- SHAZ, WHY CAN YOU HEAR Life On Mars PLAYING? CAN YOU ACTUALLY HEAR IT? Seriously, that gave me chills. That bit at the end also confused the crap out of me.
- Speaking of Shaz, I seriously love her. Monserrat Lombard was really wonderful in this episode- Shaz's sadness was palpable without ever being over-played. The whole Chris/Shaz thing is killing me. Marshall Lancaster has turned into a fantastic actor, and he really made me feel for Chris. I really hope they get back together soon!
- So we've just accepted that Alex is completely in love with Gene, have we show? BEST THING EVER. Seriously, she is so damn into him. Them filling in the dating agency survey thingy was fantastic.
Now all Gene needs to do is revert back to his series 1 levels of interest and we'll be fine. Is it just me, or is Gene coming over a little disinterested in Alex this series? Maybe not completely, but certainly less interested than he was previously. I mean, I know he has Keats and the possible destruction of his team to think about, but still! I just need them to make out. Seriously, don't let me down, OTP!
- UPTOWN GIRL. Seriously, crackiest thing ever. I was almost in tears from laughing so hard. I love that Alex is so used to her crack-filled hallucinations by now that she was pretty nonchalant about the whole thing.
- Keats is seriously one of the best things to happen to this show. Daniel Mays is really brilliant- I've always been a fan of subtelty in acting, and he does it wonderfully. I love how his introduction has changed the whole dynamic of the show as well as the interactions between the characters. He's brilliantly seedy and sinister and I absolutely love it.
- On a far more vain note, KEELEY HAWES IS SO DAMN GORGEOUS. Also, I may or may not be very attracted to a certain Phillip Glenister/Gene Hunt. So shoot me.
Conclusions? Only the one- I desperately, desperately need the next episode. The week-long wait is SO DAMN EVIL.
