Appearance: Zekk is a tall motherfucker. Seriously. He stands at 6'7” and he's only slightly shorter than an average Wookiee. He's pretty pale, with dark green eyes and long black hair that he usually wears in a ponytail, his metaphor for “pulling the dark side behind him”. He's quite handsome, as is described in the books.
Personality:
First off, Zekk is constantly tortured by his moral dilemmas. He has made a lot of choices in his past that brought pain and suffering to others, and it is not something he has ever quite forgiven himself for, even though he is beginning to heal. Because of his time as a Dark Jedi, he has done things to make up for it, including returning to his home country to help out with the evacuations. He also spent a very short stint of time as a bounty hunter, realizing that his morals made better choices for him than a simple paycheck, and he chose the high road instead of getting paid. Basically said, if he can help out, he will do it because it's what's right to him. He also doesn't believe in getting revenge and has been known to point out these particular faults to his friends.
Also because his first real interaction with the Force was through the dark side, Zekk is sort of strict when it comes down to what sort of choices should be made. That doesn't mean he's turned his back on such things that could lead him to the dark side: in fact, the call is still there, waiting for him to answer it. He's quick to anger, especially when he believes an injustice is being performed. He also has this habit of letting others know when they're stepping over the boundaries. Revenge is bad; justice is right. He can be pretty preachy about it, in not so many words.
He also has a very strong sense of independence. Having been a practical orphan, he quickly learned, even with Old Peckhum looking out for him, how to look out for himself. He often spent days and nights away from home, or stayed by himself when Peckhum had work to do. Despite all of this, he was also quite bitter for not having what his closest friends had, and this bitterness and unresolved feelings helped lead him to the dark side.
He's a very loyal friend, often going out of his way to save them. And with friends like the Solo twins, he definitely had plenty to keep him busy, saving their butts from all sorts of forces trying to kidnap or kill them. Unfortunately, there is a time that this loyalty has failed him. After the death of Anakin Solo and seeing Jaina turn to the dark side, Zekk became uncertain. While Jaina was a very close friend, someone who he cared about deeply, he didn't feel strong enough to help her turn from the dark side without falling back into it himself. He left her. And that's one thing that has probably haunted him the most, knowing that he wasn't strong enough to resist the dark side, to resist Jaina. Being in love is hard.

Canon point: At the beginning of the Dark Nest Trilogy, after the Jedi from the Myrkr mission have already begun to help out the Kiliks and found out Raynar was alive, but before him and Jaina became true Joiners.
Special Abilities:
As a Jedi, Zekk has the ability to use the Force. While powerful in his own right, he is described as having an average ability with it unless he's all dark side. However, he does have a pretty good ability to be able to find anything through the use of the Force and to help his piloting skills.
He's a pretty damn good pilot.
And he is pretty damn good at laserswording. :|b
