Trial Video!

Unfortunately one of the tapes that my mom used to record Faith and me somehow got messed up, which means I lost the video of our Saturday Jumpers run.  At least, I can't make it play on the camcorder.  That is a bummer because jumps are what Faith is all about.

BUT!  I do have the video of our first ever NAC leg and our second ever Regular course ( Read more... )

I cannot WAIT to start doing agility. Maybe next year. We'll see.

Oh, you so should. If an evil genie descended upon me and ordered me to give up all dog sports but one, I would not even have to consider the matter. Agility is the best.

You two look like you're having so much fun- thank you for sharing the video! It makes me want to start RIGHT NOW, but I want to wait until I have some of this reactivity under control.

You're welcome, I'm glad you liked it! :)

You and Maisy will have a huge head start if/when you do start agility because of your rally training. Doing rally has helped me and Faith a lot in agility and flyball.

I figure if we get most of the reactivity under control, that will help, too! Most of the other people in my CU class were coming FROM agility.

I have a six-year old dog-reactive, generally anxious Border collie and since I realize his dog sports years are slipping away, we've been taking at-home agility classes while we work through the reactivity. (yay for Control Unleashed!) I figure if I am ever to ask my dog to do agility in what for him is a nightmare environment (a trial with tons of aroused dogs), the agility part needs to be almost automatic. We're in Helix Fairweather's Cyber Agility, shaping independent obstacle performance at home and learning how to handle with simulated obstacles so as not to worry about correct obstacle performance while we're learning the human part of the equation. When we're sure we can handle a class environment, we'll start with beginner so he'll be doing things he is already extremely comfortable with. Just couldn't resist throwing that option out there! :)

Oooh, very interesting. With my dog and I, it's always the human part of the equation that needs extra work...
