Sometimes, he imagines her sleeping next to him. The act is not sexual. His problem was not that he did not find her physically appealing, he found her very attractive. He just wanted her to lie next to him and be there.
He did not lack physical contact-- it was one of the reasons he gave so many hugs. But with River, he found himself constantly wanting to be near her whenever she was around.
