After not writing anything in forever, I have something new. This is L&O: CI, Barek/Eames. Spoilers, I guess, for 6.01, "Blind Spot." Someone else owns the characters.
Also, do check out
onlyjustwhisper's lovely fic
"Night for Now," which is a prequel to the events described here.

Not at all! I'm sorry if I gave you that impression. It's really fine to think it's angsty, I was just curious about why you thought that way. I like to leave room for interpretation when I write, but I get curious about why people read things as they do.
For me, I guess, this is about something horrible and traumatic happening to Eames - she was hung from a ceiling overnight by her wrists while listening to a serial killer rape, torture, and murder another woman a few feet away. So I think Eames is feeling kind of fucked up about it, obviously, but being Eames, she doesn't want to talk about what happened (and in the L&O verse all the cops are Very!Resistant! To!Therapy!). And she's trying to pretend that it didn't affect her, so she sees her inability to talk to Barek or feel what she thinks she should feel for her not as the result of this traumatic thing that happened but as a sign of something actually wrong with her or wrong with the relationship. Barek can tell what's going on, as far as why things are not as they should be, but she doesn't know how to get Eames to talk to her.
Eh, maybe that is a little angsty. But for me, it's not actually about something going wrong with them, but with Eames simply not handling what happened to her very well.
Anyway, that's how I saw it, not that's necessarily any more valid than the way you did. Thanks for telling me what you thought about it!
