My niece is a little creep who insists on saying "hi" to me every time she fucking sees me even if it was like an hour ago, as though she hadn't seen me all day, and she silently waits around corners to do so like her fucking creepy fucking father.
My sister was drunk before six yesterday evening and oh-so-classily fell asleep on one of the porch swings. The impressive part was that the swing held her weight.
GET THESE PEOPLE OUT OF MY HOUSE
To escape, Es and I went to the transit museum yesterday and Astoria Park today. I hadn't been to either place in several years so it was nice to visit. The transit museum was great, and I picked up a wallet -- a trifold wallet with a coin purse, YES -- and saw all sorts of neat stuff. My one regret is not getting there early enough, but even if I'd walked in when the doors opened, it's just not enough time to look at everything properly. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera at home, so I'm at Es' mercy when it comes to getting pictures posted. Maybe next time, since it'll be a good idea to go back one day.
Astoria Park hasn't changed. We managed to get there at high tide today (thank goodness), about an hour before sunset, so everything was golden and beautiful. We were up there because in our recent railfanness, Es wondered about
Hell Gate and the bridge there. I knew that it ran right through the park (as Douchebag and I spent many hours under the bridge, looking out at the water), so that's where we wound up going. It wasn't quiet, either: a couple of Acela trains crossed the bridge as we walked past it, and the park was bustling due to a street fair today along the shore.
I didn't realize it last year, but getting there now, it kinda sorta reminded me of Stanley Park in Vancouver. I got the same sort of feeling from it, walking along the water, the same-shaped apartment building in the background....
We went to B&N after that: she got A Storm of Swords and I got Andersen's Fairy Tales. :D
Matt got here about an hour ago, and he showed up with a new kitten. He says he might not keep the kitten, but I know him better than that.
