Hey guys! I'm still alive and totally unharmed, but thanks for your concern.
I just woke up and while it's still a bit windy (and not even terribly windy, just like, really-windy-March-day-windy), nothing seems to be wrong. It's not raining, and even kinda bright out (for a cloudy day)! Internet and power work, obviously, water works. No big deal.
Sadly, there were casualties (not human ones): one of my neighbors lost a tree. Have some pictures of the view from my bedroom, and you'll see that it's really not much more than some leaves and twigs blown around:
Southeast, my neighbors' backyard. That's not storm damage, it always looks that gross. They've not heard of this thing called a "lawn mower." Ew.
Southwest (south is just the house, garage, and neighbor's house), my dad's car in the driveway has some leaves on it. There's a small branch in the street near the red van, and another on the grass in front of the dark red car, partially obscured by the fence).
Another view of the southwest, taken from my other window. I have the corner bedroom on the south end of the house, so I get ALL of the sun. :D
West, dead in front of my house. That tree's only about twenty years old (I remember when we planted it :3) so it's still young and strong. Just some leaves and seed pods.
Northwest, and there's the tree that fell. It looks like it's entirely down, but I'mma scope the damage later. Shame, it was a different color than the rest of the trees around here, so I'd taken a liking to it.
Edit: turns out that yeah, that tree is entirely gone and it took out part of their fence, too. That really sucks. As for the dead tree around the other side of my house, it was either struck by lightning or damaged by the wind, because there are huge cracks in the trunk. It looks pretty dangerous, and it's mostly dead anyway, so I'll call 311 about it in the morning.
So, yeah, not too bad for being about seven miles (11 km) east of the storm's path!
Quoth Alex: "I guess it's a good thing we suck at natural disasters. Crap hurricane, crap earthquake." And according to
HuffPo, it wasn't even a hurricane by the time it got here, so I was right. :D /smarmy
Yeah! In your face, Mother Nature! 8D I hate this song but ♫let's hear it for New Yooooork♫
Edit: Hmmm, I guess there was a little rain:

I wish they were more careful, though. Slip-'n'-Slide with hockey sticks is dangerous! D:>
