Dat 85 : Evening : On the top of a Tower

Dec 29, 2011 18:32

Hube was crouched in place. It was something he excelled at doing. He could blend into the surrounding just by standing perfectly still and watching.  It might be a disconcerting thing for someone who might be used to seeing nothing there. He was feeling a little something in the air that morning but with Nyssa offline he couldn’t do a scan ( Read more... )

Gwendal had gone to the upper regions of the castle wanting a higher vantage point to the destruction while some of his men went to investigate the destruction up close. He'd already checked the security of the passageways in the bowels of the earth and was confident in their stability.

"Damn that Julia. I'm sure she was behind this."

He had a sensation of someone being nearby and looked around briefly without successfully finding anyone. Until he looked up and noticed a shadow, but no body was visible.

"Identify yourself," Gwendal called up.

Hube looked down, his hat shading his eyes. "I am Gegenhuber." He stated firmly. He stepped easily forward, retaining his precarious position without effort. He presently appeared to have no weapons drawn.

He was almost identical to Gwendal's cousin, but his eye was not covered by an eyepatch. It was a metal piece integrated into the skin which glinted in the sunlight.

"It was very well planned," He stated, regarding the destruction. "Inferior technology, but effective."

Gwendal was glad to see Gegenhuber. He was a bit of an odd double but he was brilliant strategically and certainly knew about the power of observation.

"Indeed," Gwendal agreed with a frown looking back at the wasted section of the castle. "Destruction is always easier than creation. Did you happen to notice any unusual activities?" Gwendal asked turning back to the cyborg of a man that looked so much like his cousin. If anyone were to notice the culprits aside from his own military it would be this man.

Hube moved towards Gwendal effortlessly and was soon much closer. "I noticed activity in the garden." He stated. "After the event."

He looked down towards the damage with a grunt. "I submit that we will need to remove the stones to see if there were injuries and analyze the evidence that remains. I believe someone may be trapped underneath the rubble ..." he pointed. "There. There may be others. I can hear moans. They are faint, but they are alive."

OOC: I changed to evening, since the destruction seems to be in the evening not morning. Hope you don't mind.

Gwendal narrowed his eyes in the direction of the destruction. If someone could move the stones to find and trapped individuals it would be him. He turned back to his companion.

"You didn't by chance see Julia near the destruction did you?"

OOC: That works perfect changing the time frame! Good foresight!

"The blind lady? Affirmative. She had a book with her in the garden before the sun began to go down. I encountered her briefly on a previous day."

He didn't seem inclined to move to assist and simply waiting for Gwendal to do something first. Many of Gwendal's soldiers would have told him that it appeared that this new Hube did nothing without orders from specific people. They were all uneasy around him.

"You're strong and capable. Come with me and let's see if there is anyone trapped under the rubble. Do you have some sort of device in all those mechanics that allow you to sense a living body if they were buried under a great deal of debris?"

Gwendal started to head off from the vantage point and planned to get to the ground. He'd find a soldier along the way and tell them to arrest Julia as a person of interest. He'd put up with her destructive habits for too long and this was the last straw. Of all the people at Blood Pledge she had the most malicious intent.

Come with me, he said. Normally Hube would simply stay in place and wait for the two who he would listen to here. There was something about this one, though. His mechanical eye scanned Gwendal briefly and reported Earth Mana, such as the kind he used to recharge, the kind he needed. It meant the greatest of all power in his world. "I do." Hube stated. He simply stepped up on the ledge and leaped off it. He landed below with a thud as the metal in his boots clinked against the stone. One hand touched the ground and he lifted his head up towards Gwendal, expectant.

If Nyssa was fully operational, he would be able to do this easily, but instead he would have to use his senses and his mechanical eye. He rose swiftly and waited for Gwendal to get down to where he was. "There." He pointed to a more specific location, his eye emitted a small laser like white light at a particular point in the rubble. "And there." He turned again to indicate another section of the collapsed wall.

They were at the top of a tower and Hube simply was no longer there and was on the ground many, many feet below. Gwendal had intended to walk to the ground by using the stairs inside the castle but he felt a slight twinge of irritation at being outdone by this cyborg ( ... )

Hube grunted as Gwendal came down the tower efficiently. He could get behind that. He briefly scanned the wall himself and nodded. He took the opportunity to see if he could sense any other casualties, but none yet revealed themselves. His only interest had been the sounds of the living. He placed himself precisely in the location requested without any deviation whatsoever.

He bent his shoulder slightly to provide the most effective leverage calculated quickly by the device in his head. "I will not allow it to fall." He stated as a matter of fact, not as a promise.

His brows knitted together. What a strange place for bombs. Not that many people had been around. "This was a diversion." He was certain, a tactically sound argument if the person who planned this was capable of such things.

Gwendal was pleased by the strength and intelligence supplied by Hube. He was really starting to like the double of his cousin. "I agree," he said in regard to the comment that the destruction of the region of the castle was a diversion. He'd have to trust his soldiers to protect the more valuable aspects of the castle. Conrad and Wolfram would protect Yuuri so given his powers it was more imperative that he save those trapped in the debris ( ... )

He watched and a feeling of reassurance came over him as the man known as Gwendal demonstrated his power. He was not wrong to allow the man to give him orders. When the deed was complete, Hube nodded and did exactly as requested. He appreciated direct control. This man was worthy to possess the power of Earth. The wall crumbled slightly as he pulled away from it, but he managed to pull away in such a precise manner that it caused the bits of the wall to fill in gaps underneath which kept it from falling further. He seemed no worse for wear ( ... )
