Day 5, late morning, Library

Sep 23, 2007 21:54

The room Anissina dropped him off at had an annoying herd of guards lurking outside in the hallway.  The room itself was nicer than anything he'd lived in back in his world.  Mostly because it still had four standing walls ( Read more... )

Gisela left Anissina's lab with a mental list of things she would need to gather for the gift baskets. Anissina had mentioned oils, and Gisela felt the best kind of oil for displaced doubles from other worlds was her super-special calming bath oil. But first, she needed to find her top secret recipe, which she kept in a secret box behind a stack on never-read novels in a nook in the corner of the library.

Where a lavender-haired man was currently sitting.

She was sure she would have recieved word if her father had come home already.

"Good morning."

He didn't have enough information on all these new arrivals so Murata thought a trip to the library might be helpful. Whistling softly, he entered and started to browse the shelves.

Gunter tensed as his solitude was disturbed by not one, but two presences, though only one spoke.

'Good morning'Looking up from the blueprints he saw a lovely greenhaired woman.

"Is it still morning? It feels like ages have passed," he says running his palm across his eyes. "I wish this place had better lighting," he complained.

"There are extra candles on the shelf close to the door if you need more light." Gisela put on her best smile. "It seems Anissina has already welcomed you to Shin Makoku. I hope you're settling in well?"

"Ah, by the door." He closes the blueprints up - he's memorized most of the castle by now. Next he would focus on the local geography. "Pardon me for a moment."

Gunter goes to the mentioned shelf and took a pair of long candles while sticking a third into his jacket - might come in handy later.

Gunter saw the mystery whistler by some other shelves. "Nice tune," he says walking past and back to his table.

He gestured towards the other side of the table with a bright smile directed to the lovely.

"Feel free to join me I could use a beautiful woman to look at for inspiration." He stares at the candles realizing he has nothing to light them with. "Uh...I don't suppose you've a lighter?"

She cleared her throat uncomfortably. Well, Anissina did warn her about him.

"By the fireplace." She left to retrieve it and held it out for him when she returned. "I should introduce myself. My name is Gisela von Christ."

"He's still my father. And you have his face. It's just..." She shivered and, instead of returning to her seat, leaned up against the nearest bookshelf. "Thank you for cooperating." Barely.

Gunter waves his hand in dismissal. "Whatever." He turned back to the book and started studying the lay of the land some more. "You go out to this village you mentioned earlier anytime soon?"

She rolled her eyes away from him. Arrogant snob. "I'm due to go sometime soon. Why?"

He smiled at her brightly. "If I'm still here, if you don't mind of course, I'd like to tag along. I doubt if I'll have free reign to travel unsupervised in this land. It would be nice to see the area not consumed in molten rock."

He smiled at the earlier comment from Gunter but didn't disturb the conversation with Gisela. He didn't listen in deliberately but he did catch snatches of it here and there. Then he saw her leave, not looking very happy.

He finally spoke up, peering around at Gunter. "She can be a handful..."

Gunter looked up at the whistling observer. "A bit moody too, must be that time of month."

He paused looked over the young man, he didn't look familiar. "Who might you be?"

"I'm Murata Ken," he smiled, his eyes looking this Gunter over carefully. Obviously it was another double if he didn't recognise him.
