The Elevens

ESPN writers made lists of the top 11 college players they've ever seen either live or on tv (I'm not counting ESPN Classic... just games I saw when they were played and players when they were still in college). The 11 players are 7 main positions QB, RB, WR, OL, DL, LB, DB, and then 4 wild card (you pick) spots. Then there are 11 other bests. Those are, Best Team, Best season, Best game, Biggest Upset, Best Bowl game, Best Stadium, Best Fans, Best uniforms, Best Book, Favorite Coach, Favorite Player.
Its pretty self explanatory.

Best Players
QB Tommie Frazier, Nebraska
RB Reggie Bush, USC
WR Peter Warrick, FSU
OL Orlando Pace, Ohio St
DL Warren Sapp, Miami
LB Lavar Arrington, Penn State
DB Charles Woodson, Michigan

QB Michael Vick, VA Tech
QB Matt Leinart, USC
RB Ron Dayne, Wisconsin
LB Derrick Johnson, Texas

Best Team - 1995 Nebraska. So many reasons, but consider that only twice all season did they give up half as many points as they scored (and one was 49-25). And their schedule included 4 teams with double-digit wins.

Best Season - Despite the outcome (can't stand Tennessee), I would have to say 1998. The BCS was new that year and it brought a lot of excitement and some resolution to the season that hadn't existed before then. There were probably 8 teams who could have made it to the NC game that year and a lot of them only lost near the very end, with the Vols narrowly avoiding an upset themselves against Arkansas. Though FSU didn't put up much of a fight in the NC game with Weinke injured and we might have gotten a better matchup if teams like Ohio State or Wisconsin hadn't lost, the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl that year were excellent games. But regardless, you had the high-drama race to the finish with many teams contending, but only one of them going undefeated to be undisputed champion. 2004 was another good year because of all the unbeaten teams and the amazing Rose Bowl game.

Best Regular Season Game - 1994 "Miracle at Michigan" Colorado wins on a last play Hail Mary.

Biggest Upset - 1998 Va Tech loses to Temple. Temple!

Best Bowl Game - 2003 Fiesta Bowl. Combination of closeness and significance.

Best Stadium - Now this I have no idea. Perhaps Notre Dame's because of all the history there. Those endzone stripes are classic college as well.

Best Fans - Nebraska. It was a tossup before reading the ESPN article... that's pretty classy.

Best Uniforms - Alabama home, total old-school. Michigan's are a close second, mainly because of the helmets.

Best Book - Haven't read any college football books.

Favorite Coach - Steve Spurrier. Those offenses were fun to watch.

Favorite Player - Michael Vick. You never knew what he was going to do next.
