I had announced early in the year my intention to travel to Oxford and see the Tolkien exhibition, and we had agreed to attempt a family vacation in England because the kids are absorbing the BBC's children's programme and learning to speak actual English. But then with one thing and another, the summer holidays passed and we didn't make it. And

Oh wow! Thanks so much for sharing. And yay for just picking up and going like that. Russandol told me she went to see it a couple weeks ago. I was so envious. She and I actually made the pilgrimage to Oxford 5 years ago and visited Tolkien's grave and the Eagle and Child, as well as padding around Oxford (so your pic were great). We met up with Sian there too.

Und mein Englisch rostet immer mehr grrrr: es ist so wunderbar, wie du einen mitreißt mit deinen Erzählungen. Ich bin kein richtiger Tolkien Fan. Ich verstehe die Begeisterung, die seine Texte auslösen können, auch wenn er mir ein bissl zu anstrengend ist. Ich sehe, dass er außergewöhnlich ist. Für mich fällt er aber trotzdem mehr unter "yet another interesting writer" ... Und trotzdem schaffst du's, mich so mitzunehmen, dass ich deine Begeisterung und Freude richtig in mir spüren kann. Und ich freu mich so für dich!
