I was literally obsessed with Hardy when I was 18-20. I loved loved loved Tess I also loved Far from the Madding Crowd. He is very atmospheric and there is a consistent theme of fatalism throughout his work. If you read him you MUST read Jude the Obscure. I feel like it takes at least 100 pages for any of his books to really get good, but once they do you are hooked!
I haven't read him in years but plan to re-read some this year because i'd really like too see how different the novels seems now that I'm so much older

When I was younger the classics were more my forte but now I prefer historical fiction and new release fiction.
However classics are beautiful, they really are. It's more of a time investment but the writing style and genus of those old texts are really admirable. Some of the more memorable ones I would recommend are Madame Bovary , crime and punishment and of course Thomas Hardy's Jude the Obscure. Oh! And Wuthering Heights

Are you on goodreads?

Do you like "new adult" books? I read one last year I really enjoyed called Girl Underwater
