Nicknames

Whether we like it or not, we all have little nicknames we go by at home. Names which only family call you, names that stick with you as you grow up.



Here's ours:

Foops (not his real name)
I call him Honey. The kids call him Papa, or Honey sometimes when he is not responding, haha.

Me
Foops calls me Baby or Honey, or by my name Debra when we are with company. The kids call me Mama.

Sean
He mostly goes by Gor-gor at home. Besides my in-laws, I am the only one who calls him by his Chinese name Ming Zhe. Ryan refuses to call him Gor-gor for some reason and calls him Sean-sean instead.

Ryan
We used to call him Didi when it was just the two of them. So that's what he calls himself now.

We call him Rei-rei now. I call him Ming Rei or Rei-rei. (He pronounces it as 'Way-way'.)

Now that we have Jordan, Sean sometimes refers to Ryan as the 'small Gor-gor'.

Jordan
We haven't found a nickname for him yet.

He is supposed to be the Didi of the house but it gets confusing because Ryan still calls himself as Didi. Sean refers to him as 'the new baby'. The rest of us follow Ryan and call him 'baby Jordan' or 'baby Didi', haha.

I like using Chinese names but I haven't quite gotten used to his (Ming Jin) yet so I haven't been using it. I am thinking maybe calling him Jordy or Jinny? My mum has suggested calling him Jojo but I am not sure I like it yet.

Ah well, we'll see what sticks over time!
