We dropped by the house on New Year's Day. (Yet another belated post.)
The whole place has been cleaned up to make way for the installation of the cabinets and fixtures. It is beginning to look very promising!
Our original idea was to have a grey feature wall in the conjoined living and dining area.
I was hoping we could paint it with some sort of interesting textured paint but the sample we got turned out to be too glossy.
So in the end, we decided to stick to good ol' paint. You can see from the pictures the two test paint swatches on the living room wall. One turned out a little too dark and the other too light. We will probably settle for something in between.
This week too, we finalised on the colours/designs of the laminates of the built-in cabinets.
After much hemming and hawing, I settled on a rather bold woody walnut print as an accent to the kitchen and living room areas. Foops had his reservations about the print but I am still keeping my fingers crossed that the overall look will come together nicely.
We also finalised the colour and material for the blinds for the whole house.
I chose blackout ones for the bedrooms because I foresee in a few months' time, I will be trying to trick Baby #2 into thinking it is still dark outside and hopefully he can sleep in later in the mornings. Just like I did with a wee little Sean not too long ago ;)
We later got news that blinds wouldn't work in the curved portion of the living room so curtains it will be. Back to the drawing board for that one again.
Things are expected to move very fast from this point on, once they paint the walls and install the cabinets, kitchen and bathroom fixtures, fans, lights, etcetera.
We're getting closer!
