July 4th at Coney Island
Yesterday was awesome! We went, with B's parents to Coney Island. His mom had always wanted to go, and we haven't been since 1999 so the visit was overdue. Also, since those developers are coming in soon...who knows what it's future is. Right now what I hear is million dollar condos and upscale shopping..ooh big deal like we need more of that crap. Sad..
Anyway, we got there around 11ish and we noticed it was mobbed! Part of Surf Ave was closed down we found out soon because of the Nathans hot dog eating contest that was going on. We parked over at the aquariam since we were planning on going anyway. It was nice and I'm glad we stopped in. The jellyfish exibits were cool too, as were the sharks and giant stingrays. And sea turtles! Oh and the walruses were so fun to watch, swimming on their backs, so graceful under water even though they are enourmous, love walruses :)
When we were done we decided to eat, we wanted to eat at Nathans but it was still crazy over there so we ate at Franks which is right accross from The Cyclone. It was yummy. Then onto Deno's where I finally rode the Wonderwheel, can't believe how busy it was!! It made things more exiting though and I could imagine what it must have been like in it's heydey in the 20's. The Wonderwheel was a little scary with it's swinging cars, great one of a kind ride. Then B and I did Spook o Rama, a dark ride that I'm sure will not be there by next year..Then onto Top Spin 2..wow they were running probably the most intense programs on that thing, it was intense! And some guy gave us his tickets which was cool. Then of course we did Cyclone, it felt weird having to wait for it! It was running great. So for dinner we did end up at Nathans then headed home, it was a very fun, and unusual visit, to Coney Island. I'm so glad we got there before things start to change...
