2012 Retrospective

1. What did you do in 2013 that you'd never done before?
Got hit by a truck, road tripped with my girlfriends, various medical stuff including catching a bunch of babies, happily moved in with a partner, saw Fleetwood Mac and Rush, made some internet friends, babysat some cats, had a partner come out to see the Vancouver family. Not a whole lot of firsts besides the midwifery ones. The midwifery ones were pretty big though.

2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions and will you make more for next year?
I failed at that one. My new one is to answer emails and letters promptly.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope but I was at a whole bunch of them.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.

5. What countries [regions] did you visit?
Road trip from Ontario to Nova Scotia. Vancouver and Ottawa and Toronto as per usual.

6. What would you like to have in 2014 that you lacked in 2013?
Motivation and less laziness.

7. What dates from 2013 will remain etched upon your memory and why?
January 3 - my first day of placement. Not a whole lot of memorable dates this year. This Christmas season has been pretty great.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting through my placement.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Getting my apartment organized - it's still a shambles.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Just a couple bouts of rotten flu.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Books books books. Tickets to see Sir Patrick Steward and Sir Ian McKellan in Waiting for Godot.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
My family, my besties Kate, Katy, Kristen and Megan. All my midwifery friends. Artem (<3).

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Kerry was fairly horrible this summer - things are okay now.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Gas, living expenses, books, weed.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Mushy stuff. Doing awesome drugs. Christmas visits. Moving in with boyfriend.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a)happier or sadder? probably about the same (very freaking happy)

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Got off my butt, read WAY more books.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Civ V. My addiction is pretty horrendous.

20. How will you be spending Christmas [and New Year's Eve!]?
Crazy Vancouver Christmas times. New Years will be Carnivale themed and Artem will be here (yay!)

21. Did you fall in love in 2013?
If it's possible to be more in love than I already was - yup. We fall deeper.

22. How many one night stands?
None.

23. What were your favorite TV programs?
Parks and Recreation, Once Upon a Time

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No.

25. What was the best book you read?
Their Eyes were Watching God - Zora Neale Thurston

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Macklemore

27. What did you want and get?
A good first clinical placement and some guarantees about what will happen after I graduate, living with my boyfriend, lots of time off.

28. What did you want and not get?
More clinical experience like IVs etc.

29. What was your favorite film of this year?
Pacific Rim and 12 Years a Slave.

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
26 - amazeballs cottage party as usual.

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Less depressed during the summer probably.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2013?
Comfy funky.

33. What kept you sane?
My friends and family, baths, books, sex, weed. The usual.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Richard Armitage.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
All of them - as usual.

36. Who did you miss?
I miss all the people I have to live apart from.

37. Who was the best new person you met?
Megan.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2013?
If you don't do it - no one will.
