He knew who it was before the wolf changed back to a human form and Chris knew what he had to do once the werewolf was vulnerable. The crossbow was pointed at Peter and shaking violently. Instead of pulling the trigger Chris backed away from the mad man. He couldn’t do it.
The burned and shot man started shifting, digging his hands into the ground and crawling toward the hunter. A soft whine dragged the hunter’s eyes back to Peter. The werewolf continued to whine and paw toward the other man. Chris couldn’t do it. So he did what he could and fled.
