Some thoughts on Texas Hold 'Em

BO and I were discussing the game we'd just both lost on Saturday night during the cab ride to Teasers. We thought that for a $10 buy-in, maybe 50 chips should have been enough. The game could be finished more quickly that way, and another could get under way ASAP. For a $20 buy-in, 100 chips would be better so that you don't lose your money too quickly.

Also, in the other game he plays in, when they get down to the final two players (aka: Heads Up poker) they just split the pot, rather than play until one man has all the chips. The player with fewer chips gets his buy-in amount back, and the chip leader takes the rest of the pot. I think if we allow maybe 6 hands of Heads Up action, to give either player a chance to win it all, and then call the game, count the chips and split the pot, it will make it quite fair. After all, we are all friends at these games, and I don't think we want to antagonize anyone irreparably.

Comments welcome as always.
