Good Friday was really good, because working at double-time-and-a-half rate, I made out like a bandit, and it wasn't busy at all. Sweet!
After work, Derek dropped by with a French post-apocalyptic movie called "The Time of the Wolf". Strange thing, for a post-ap flick, they never explained what the apocalyptic event was; there was just a severe shortage of supplies and potable water, nobody trusted anyone else, general bullying and manipulation of people. What was so effective about it, was how realistic it was, and one could picture that situation occurring here and now. To be honest, I'm not sure I'd recommend that movie to anyone (there were absolutely no wolves in it). But the pizza we got from Doughboys on Pembina was top notch, so I'm recommending that, instead.
Saturday was a fine, full day. Got together with Derek and Jayson for breakfast at the Forks Pancake House, after which we drove around to various shops. Derek wanted the 2nd season of Kung Fu, Jayson wanted to trade in some used video games at EB, and I just like to poke around stores. Then Jayson bought two dwarf hamsters, which he named Cracky and Speed Dial. We got them back to his place, where he set them up in style with pine shavings, food cubes and some water. They're living in a glass aquarium - not full of water - so I suggested he set up a webcam for it. If he does I'll post the link here.
If you've read Lucidcode and Ullyeus's entries this weekend, you know we all met up for poker and strippers. I was the chip leader in the game for a while, beat out Lucidcode, but then got beat out myself with a bad call decision. Ah, well, it was only money ($10) and I can make more of that!
The strippers at Teaser's made me feel alternately foolish and guilty for enjoying the acts. There are a lot of "low lives" there, and I didn't really want to sink to their level. Then I just decided to let go, and enjoy the spectacle for what it was worth.
Sunday; hung over. Derek called me too damn early for breakfast, which BTW, is a weekend ritual. This time his girlfriend Siobahn was with us, and we met at Don Street Deli. I just had some eggs and toast because I was going to my sister's place in Steinbach for the entire Easter dinner. And my mom's birthday. She turned 75. We got her a microwave oven. Dinner was great. After eating, we played games and watched The Incredibles. I won $2.50 from my dad, playing cribbage, which makes up a bit for losing at poker the previous night.
