It was in the 50s when I started out this morning, but the woods were damp from all the rain we got yesterday. I found a spot about 50 yards below the upper tree stand and set up there. Going into the woods during the early morning darkness is rather creepy. You can't see very far and you hear all sorts of things as they scamper to get out of your way.
Things were pretty quiet till around 7:15 when I heard something running below me. I couldn't make out what it was at first, but it was too fast to be a squirrel and too small to be a deer. A few moments later a cute little red fox came trotting up the hill. He was too quick so I wasn't able to get a picture of him.
Aside from the fox, and a gray squirrel, no other animals were to be seen this morning.
However seeing the red fox made it all worth while.
