Aaaannd... I've completely forgotten how to work this thing. :P
Anyway, about two months ago I decided I was sick of Southern California's crap, weather, taxes, cost of living and job market. I had significant equity built up in the house with the property values just starting a downward turn, so I thought 'Screw it! Time to move!'.
I quickly found a buyer for the house, since a month never goes by without someone asking if I was interested in selling, and started the whole escrow process. I then started looking at properties in my hometown of Spokane, Washington.
I found a great little fully remodeled house on a small lot (SO tired of having to take care of a huge lot) with a garage and workshop. The place needs more fencing for the dogs, but fence is easy.
What's really nice about Spokane is that property values are about 1/3rd of SoCal and the cost of living is a lot lower as well. My Navy pension can easily cover everything, so I can actually retire.
As of right now, the house in Ramona has closed escrow and funds have been disbursed. Everything is packed and ready for the movers on November 7th. I start the drive up North as soon as they're done loading, arriving (hopefully) in Spokane on the 9th. The house in Spokane closes on the 10th.
My only worry now is if the truck will make the trip. It's a good truck and I've done everything I can to be prepared, but as any technician will tell you, 'Stuff breaks'.
Prayers and good thoughts for the drive up would be greatly appreciated.
