Not a lot happening with me lately.
Work had me doing some serious overtime working out the bugs in their newest product. Engineers sure take it personal when their designs don't work. :P I was also the victim of co-worker envy, having my work sabotaged. Management has since fired the person.
Last Friday was my birthday, so I celebrated by going to the Escondido Renaissance Faire. I had fun and received a lot of attention from some of the ladies, which was flattering at my age. ^_^
I've been working on a couple of RC airplane projects:
First is a new camera platform. I wasn't happy with the vibration of the big Piper Cub or the wild rollercoaster of the Corsair, so I figured a large slow-flying trainer would be the answer. I found a (comparatively) inexpensive foam trainer at one of the local hobby shops and modified it for the cameras. It's first flight proved it was a bit more agile than I expected, so I'll try to add gyros to calm it down some.
The second project is all about gyros. An acrobatic biplane with gyro stabilization on all three axis. It's kinda hard to explain, but if it works as planned I should be able to hover it and go up to it and bump it and it will self-correct it's orientation. It should prove interesting to fly. It's been a difficult build so far.
Reid has finished shedding her summer coat, so no more little black fuzzy tumbleweeds bouncing through the house. She's been very vocal lately. Not barking, but whines and growlies like she's talking to me. Maybe it's because I talk to her all the time. Dunno.
There's a ground squirrel that's been hanging around the house that's very tame. If I'm sitting out on the porch he'll hop up on the table and ask for handouts. He takes nuts and whatnot right out of my fingers and doesn't run away to eat. I wonder if squirrels in So-Cal hibernate. O_o I've named him Ty.
So there you have it. What I've been doing with myself for the past few weeks. Now it time to "Feed the Weed", since she's looking expectantly at me. 9_9
