hole in my back

The best laid plans of mice and men...

So I was planning to write about the 7 things from my previous post, you know one a day, but I was sidetracked by a small hole in my back.

My platelets have been slowly going down since just before thanksgiving.  I was at 124000 when I was admitted to the hospital the Thursday before Thanksgiving for the flu or something similar (colitis).  They pumped me full of steroids.  That made the platelets go up to 189000 by the following Monday.  Unfortunately, I was on the way down at that point and not up.  The next Monday I was at 127000, then 107000, and finally this week 48000.  So my DR decided to do a bone marrow biopsy to make sure that I am producing enough platelets.  They did that yesterday.  It made me very sore in the back, I can't bend over, walking and sitting somewhat hurt, and I have a baseball sized bright purple bruise on my back.  Not to mention the small hole that looks like I was stabbed with an icepick.  No big deal.

My DRs physician assistant called me today to inquire why I missed my surgery yesterday....
