Back Again... An Update

First off, the workout thing:  Still going strong on it, 4 times a week with the gym partner.  I started this back in Feb and wanted to see what the results were by my B-day, April 9th.   I haven't measured myself lately, but I did gain some more muscle (hoperfully!) since I am now 250#.  I was actually trying to loose weight, but my style of working out really doesn't allow that.  Once I get into the "zone", I end up pushing myself harder, meaning pressing more weight.

On a positive note, I am attracting more admirers... although, that could just be more "chubby-chasers"... LOL!

Bowling:  Our team is in the final finals, meaning this week we will either be #1 or #2.   My bowling score, of late, has sucked... so the burden of keeping us alive has fallen on the other 3 members.  I totally feel bad about this and plan on doing ALOT of practice this summer so I can hold my own next season.   I can start by purchasing my own ball (I know, I know....).

The Pool:  Last year, we decided to cover the pool with a tarp.  The problem is that we didn't have the tarp pulled tightly enough so that alot of water, with other crap, got on top of the tarp.   So, this weekend, we had to rent a sewer pump to get the water out of the top, then remove the tarp.  WHAT A FUCKING ORDEAL!!!  And our normal pool pump is acting funny, probably from all the crap now in the filter, so we will have to get that fixed.  Brian has done a fantastic job of getting the water clear and swimable, but we still have work to do.

Lesson learned:   Either a)  forget the tarp and clean it all winter, or b) get a pool cover that doesn't touch the water line.

Credit Card:  Ok, my love affair with Citi Bank has ended.  I accidentally missed one payment and the interest jumped from 2% to 28%.  They called me, I closed the account and got on a payment plan.  This is entirely my fault because I have always known that credit cards are evil and should've closed the account last year.

Lesson learned:  If you don't handle the important stuff now, someone else will for you later on, on *their* terms....

Primerica:  Had a friend, who I hadn't heard from in a while, contact me out of the blue last week and set up a presentation "for training purposes".  I knew it was sales pitch, but I try to be open minded, giving myself credit for not being a complete naive idiot who whips out his check book for every snake oil salesman.   Hopefully, this is not a vain conceit.

Anyway, after 3 hours of listening, here's what got my attention:  They want to consolidate the house mortgage, along with the credit card debt, in a simple interest loan... resulting a subtantially smaller amount of cash paid out each month.
Also, they want to take those savings and apply it towards term life insurance and a retirement account for me and Brian.

We finished by me giving them this condition: Get me to part A (debt consolidation into simple interest) and we can talk about part B (investing the savings).

We have another meeting this coming saturday, which gives me time to do some research and get all the necessary paperwork they will need for the application.

I'll post more on this after this week for those of you interested.

Vacation:   End of May, Brian and I, along with 3 other couples, are going to the Ocoee River for white water rafting.  I am paying for the whole trip out of the tax refund we got.   Man, I am soooooo looking forward to this!!!
I'll try to post some pictures.
