Weirdness of Wierdlinesses

Back in August I was asked to preach at my church on October 14th. I agreed and have spent portions of the last two months preparing a message. Last Sunday I arrived at church, my name was in the buletin, I organized my thoughts rehearsed my transitions made myself ready mentally and emotionally, and met with the prayer team right before the service.

Then as I was walking into the sanctuary to take my seat a deacon took my arm and whispered, "Rick, you won't believe this, but the pastor who is scheduled to speak next Sunday is here today, and he's expecting to give the message! What do we do?"

After the briefest of considerations, we decided that if a guest pastor shows up and wants the pulpit, you let him have it, so he preached instead of me.

It was a strange feeling all day to gear all up and then not get to speak.

Stuff like that has tended to happen since Pastor Tim left. It's been alittle chaotic 'round the church. Hope it straightens out soon.

Meanwhile, I might be preaching this Sunday ( I think).

Gotta get back to work.
