Okay, the guys who are making up the news are not trying again.
There is a huge story about the biggest investment scam ever-- a gigantic Ponzi scheme that took billions of investor dollars from the smartest Wall Street insiders... and the guy behind it is named Bernie Madoff. Madoff. Which is pronounced "Made off".
You know, in Green Lantern comic books, the Super-villian "Sinestro" used to be the head of the Green Lantern Corps, and was trusted by all until he turned to evil. Faith and I have often observed that this is evidence that you really shouldn't trust somebody named "Sinestro" to lead your super-hero organization-- or "Lord Evil", or "Betrayal man", whatever-- just use a little judgment.
Yet, we are supposed to believe that in real life somebody gave billions of dollars to a guy named Bernie "made off" to invest-- and then he took the money for himself. Yeah, yeah, and the woman who cut off her husband's penis was named "Bob it" too-- C'mon guys... AT LEAST TRY to make it sound real.
Stories like this are like the bit in the Truman show when a spotlight suddenly falls to the street from out of the sky and has the name of a star written on its label.
