Survived another hurricane. This is geting beyond depressing. It's really starting to feel as if we are being punished for something! This time hunkered down in the hallway with the futon mattress. I was freaked out all Saturday night, the winds were loud and the news crew was tense. Mark slept (he stayed awake for the last one) in our room, which faces east, the direction the hurricane was coming from. I left him in there, figured I would wake him up if needed. Hazel was up with a cold. The winds were so loud. Did I say that already? I think I counted 4 transformers exploding, that will make you jump out of your skin. At 3:00 am, the news crew said 'alright folks this is it, it's getting ready to hit the downtown area'. So I dragged that mattress out and it took up the whole hallway I shut all the doors, and it was quieter. But I kept the TV on, Hazel thought it was fun, the cats were very curious. I slept a little, but only had hurricane dreams. Hazel kept kicking me and crying with her cold. The next morning, not over, it was so windy all day. it blew here for 24 hours it seems Watched the trees from the windows, they bended and blew and went into all sorts of unnatural positons. The trees just couldn't take it. Lost a big limb on one tree, lots of little limbs from another. Lost a few shingles. I guess they can't totally stand up to 3 hurricanes in 6 weeks, although they've done an amazing job so far. It even ripped up my little penta flower bush! My garden looks awful, overgrown and now ripped up. The wind howled all day. Every once in a while, we'd here a bang or a boom and didn't know what it was. I opened the door once around 3:00 pm. I didn't go outside, I could feel the wind's power. Scary. It's over again. Hurrican season lasts until November 30th. No electricity lost this time. Haven' ventured out into town. Lots of helicopters flying around. Like we're in a war zone. Feeling numb.
